    Job Description

     

    The Configuration Manager is responsible for the development, communication, and maintenance of configuration and data management processes utilized by Aerostructures for fabrication, assembly and distribution of products using the Teamcenter engineering data management system.  Specific responsibilities include the development of detailed configuration management plans, generation of common processes & procedures, establishment of the single source engineering repository (Teamcenter), and oversight of the change management process within Teamcenter.

    • Manage and supervise the Change Control Management team employees.  This includes developing job descriptions, hiring recommendations, training, performance evaluation, employee development and involvement in disciplinary and/or termination decisions.
    • Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget.
    • Serve as administrator of the Teamcenter PLM System
      • Create and maintain user accounts
      • Create and maintain Projects
      • Update and deploy BMIDE Changes
      • Create and edit Workflows
    • Monitors the review of released engineering change data and change documentation activities to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and policy.
    • In concert with the plant General Managers and other appropriate corporate and plant personnel, implement the standardized change control and data management processes.
    • Create and edit items and datasets in Teamcenter to support data migration needs
    • Create data infrastructure
    • Assure all engineering data is properly associated
    • Audit system to ensure integrity of data
    • Create, edit and maintain PLM related collaboration sites (Sharepoint)
    • Develop and facilitate training for users to meet their PLM needs
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical, software and/or issues with PLM system
    • Coordinate with IT Department and Vendor of PLM to resolve network related issues
    • Support Development Project team with project status information
    • Generate ad hoc and standard reports and queries for internal and external use
    • Participate in various process improvement projects
    • Distribute weekly KPI performance metrics for Change Management processes
    • Participate in Teamcenter testing as needed

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Engineering or other appropriate field
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role requiring extensive technical knowledge and involvement in aerospace manufacturing operations or the equivalent in education, training and experience.
    • In depth technical knowledge of engineering specifications and quality requirements in an aerospace machining, sheet metal, or composites manufacturing operation.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a department strategy and vision that is consistent with and supports LMI strategy and vision.  This includes setting goals and Develop a thorough understanding of how electronic files and hardcopy documents are received from customer’s, logged, stored and controlled within Plant Document Control areas, the NAS Server, Content Manager.
    • Develop a thorough understanding of plant change control processes in order to develop an overall change control process within Teamcenter that works for all plants, with minimal modifications.
    • Through the identification of best practices, kaizen events and other lean and quality tools, develop standardized change control and data management processes that will be used at all plants.  This will include change control and data management SP’s, work instructions, and other practices and procedures that are to be used at all plants.
    • In concert with the plant General Managers and other appropriate corporate and plant personnel, implement the standardized change control and data management processes. 
    • Work with Corporate Quality to develop audit check sheets to provide a way to monitor compliance and evaluate the effectiveness of the processes.  Monitor the results of the audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the processes and training.
    • Develop a plan for migration of existing electronic data for existing programs from LMI’s NAS and plant servers to Teamcenter PDM.  Initial focus will be on the LMI Legacy plants.
    • Manage and supervise the C/DM team employees.  This includes developing job descriptions, hiring recommendations, training, performance evaluation, employee development and involvement in disciplinary and/or termination decisions.
    • Support corporate and plant audits related to configuration management / data management (i.e. DPD audits).
    • Reinforce robust communication between all plants and sharing of information between plants on improvement projects and best practices related to configuration control, data management and planning.
    • Serve on special project teams as needed.
