    CHNS Training and Staffing Services is currently seeking experienced Licensed Practical Nurses, Register Nurse, positions.

    CHNS provides staffing services to multiple healthcare institutions.

    The "right" candidate will possess the following:

    • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse / Registered Nurse License in good standing with the State of Maryland required.
    • CPR, AED and first aid certification required.
    • Experience with Point Click Care preferred.

    The job description includes, but is not limited to:

    • Demonstrate clinical competence to evaluate the physical, spiritual, psychological, emotional as well as educational and environmental needs of residents.
    • Order, administer and record medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing policies and procedures. Ensure all medications and treatments are signed for and completed in the appropriate allotted time frames and according to policies and procedures.
    • Observe residents for changes in condition relative to medications, treatments, incidents and report adverse changes to supervisor, physician, resident and/or responsible party as appropriate.
    • Organize information and communicate with physicians and supervisor regarding relevant resident care issues.
    • Transcribe/verify physician orders, coordinate testing, treatments and other procedures as appropriate.
    • Complete admission assessments and other required nursing assessments, forms and documents in accordance with facility policy and regulatory guidelines. Document nursing interventions and resident response to care timely, accurately and in a complete manner.
    • Document all pertinent resident information regarding health status and response to care plan goals. Transcribe and note orders.
    • Measure and record patients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, blood glucose, pulse and respiration.
    • Collect and record blood, urine, bowel and sputum samples for diagnostic testing. Follow-up as appropriate regarding laboratory results.
    • Develop, implement and communicate measurable goals and admission/discharge plans with physicians, residents, responsible parties and interdisciplinary team members. Document and communicate plans appropriately and professionally. Identify necessary and appropriate nursing interventions pertinent to the plan of care.
    • Implement and document all resident/responsible party education relevant to health care needs and ensure understanding of the teaching.
    • Handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.
    • Delegate, monitor and follow up on GNA assignments to ensure quality resident care and services. Assist staff as needed to ensure completion of tasks properly, promptly and professionally.
    • Empower staff by promoting responsibility, accountability and autonomy to enhance resident care.
    • Train and monitor assigned staff on the use of restraints, treatments, positioning devices, etc. to ensure a complete understanding of their function and to ensure resident dignity and safety.
    • Prepare residents for and explain procedures relative to examinations, treatments, etc.
    • Monitors stock levels of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc. to verify they are maintained on premises at all times to adequately meet resident needs while also recommending changes in techniques and/or procedures for efficient and cost-effective operation.
    • Assemble and utilize catheters, IV pumps, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen and other nursing equipment and supplies as appropriate.
    • Assist in orienting, assigning, supervising, and evaluating new and experienced nursing assistant personnel and recommend to supervisor promotions or disciplinary actions.
    • Answer resident call bells as needed.
    • May be required to have a resident assignment list and complete the duties of a nursing assistant if staffing needs require and/or per supervisor’s discretion.
    • Attend in-service/educational programs in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements.
    • Ability to transfer and move residents with assistance as deemed necessary with plan of care using proper lifting techniques. Ability to push/pull equipment weighing in excess of 50 pounds using proper techniques and with assistance as necessary. Be able to sit, bend, and stoop. Stand and/or walk for six (6) hours or more daily. Ability to sit at keyboard for four (4) or more hours daily.     • Position responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, day, evening, or weekend hours to meet facility needs.
    • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
    • Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
    • Meet general health requirements set forth by the policies of the Company, which may include medical and physical examinations.
    • Perform other duties as directed by the Unit Managers, RN Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing, and/or the Administrator.
