    Job Summary

    The Transportation Supervisor is a pivotal role in managing and enhancing our school and NEMT transportation services. The Supervisor is responsible for the scheduling of routes, effectively managing daily operations, and employees; ensuring that all transportation services are conducted in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.

    Essential Functions

    1. Driver/ Supervision /Training:

    Oversee a team of drivers, providing leadership, guidance, and support.

    Lead monthly meetings and employee training to ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.

    Monitor driver performance and provide constructive feedback and performance evaluations.

    Plan, organize, assign schedules for the transportation team.

    Conduct driver ride-along evaluations, on-site observations and inspections of drivers and vehicles to ensure compliance with company procedures.

    Investigate complaints and follow-up with Schools, Parents, NEMT Provider Services to discuss issues and provide solutions.

    Provide route coverage as needed

    1. Route Planning and Optimization:

    Process new route/ trip requests.

    Create and maintain efficient transportation routes/trips using routing platforms.

    Continuously optimize routes to minimize travel time, overloading, fuel consumption, and on-time performance.

    Adjust routes as needed to accommodate changes in student populations or traffic patterns.

    Serve as school/NEMT liaison to ensure that services are rendered in a satisfactory manner.

    1. Fleet Maintenance and Safety Compliance:

    Implement a rigorous maintenance schedule for fleet vehicles to ensure they are safe and in optimal working condition.

    Coordinate and schedule fleet cleaning.

    Ensure that all vehicles adhere to local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.

    Conduct regular safety inspections of vehicles and address maintenance and repair needs promptly.

    Coordinate the purchase of parts and supplies needed for vehicles and ensure that all parts and supplies are inventoried and managed.

    1. Emergency Response Planning:

    Develop comprehensive emergency response plans for various scenarios, including accidents, inclement weather, and other emergencies.

    Conduct regular drills and training sessions to prepare drivers and staff for emergency situations.

    Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services as needed.

    1. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:

    Maintain open and effective communication channels with parents, school administrators, and transportation team members.

    Address parent inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.

    Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth operations and resolve transportation-related issues.

    1. ** Systems and Data Analysis:**

    Manage internal databases and routeupdate school, student enrollment/demographic info.

    Analyze transportation-related data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve performance.

    Use data-driven insights to enhance route efficiency, on-time performance, and overall service

    quality.

    Oversee company technology solutions, such as GPS tracking, AI Coaching, real-time monitoring

    Review and maintain ridership records, attendance and behavior logs, key access, complaint /site issues, and accident reports for each route

    Review Daily DVIR and follow up on reported vehicle repairs, supplies and maintenance issues.

    1. Safety Culture Promotion:

    Foster and promote a strong safety culture within the transportation team.

    Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to reinforce safety protocols.

    Encourage drivers and staff to prioritize safety at all times.

    Required Skills and Knowledge

    1. Leadership and Team Management:

    Strong leadership skills to effectively lead and motivate a team of drivers and support staff.

    Ability to foster a positive and collaborative team culture, emphasizing safety and professionalism.

    1. Regulatory Compliance:

    In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations and safety standards relevant to school transportation.

    Proficiency in ensuring compliance with traffic laws, vehicle maintenance, and safety protocols.

    1. Route Planning and Optimization:

    Expertise in developing and optimizing transportation routes and schedules to maximize efficiency while prioritizing passenger safety and on-time arrivals.

    1. Fleet Maintenance and Safety Management:

    Thorough understanding of vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to ensure vehicles are in excellent operational condition.

    1. Effective Communication:

    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for fostering open and transparent communication with parents, school administrators, and transportation team members.

    Prompt and professional resolution of inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to school transportation.

    1. Systems and Data Analysis:

    Proficiency in managing data systems/ routing platforms.

    Strong data analysis skills, with a key focus on transportation-related data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and enhance transportation performance.

    1. Customer Service Orientation:

    A commitment to providing exceptional customer service to parents, students, and school staff by addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.

    Ability to collaborate with school administrators to align transportation services with educational goals and priorities.

    Pre-employment Screening Requirements

    Must be able to pass a 10 Panel drug and alcohol screening, and Tuberculosis (TB) Test/Screening

    Must have a clean background : 10 year Motor Vehicle History Check, National Background Check, PA State Police Criminal Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting through Identogo (no prior convictions or felonies, DUI’s, or drug related arrests)

    Qualifications ( Requirements)

    High school diploma or equivalent

    CDL - School Bus, Passenger Endorsement <<preferred>>

    5+ years Professional driving experience

    5 + years of Supervisory experience

    Clean driving history with no accidents within last 7 years

    5+ years of route management experience

    Certificates/Licenses

    Possession of a proper class license valid to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of appointment.
