Technical Source is looking for an Architectural Laboratory Planner for our client in the DC area and their Science & Technology group. In this role, you won't just be supporting the lab design - you'll be leading it. For this role you’ll develop and drive the layout, workflow, and technical design of lab environments through all phases, from early programming to construction administration.
You’ll work closely with the Project Manager, but will be trusted to work autonomously, take initiative, and own the Revit drawing sets. The ideal candidate has designed in sectors like pharma cGMP environments, life sciences, hospital laboratories, or research and development environments
Key Responsibilities
Lead the architectural layout and design of lab spaces using Revit
Engage directly in programming conversations with end users—translating their needs into spatial layouts, equipment workflows, and environmental requirements
Develop drawing sets and technical documentation from schematic design through construction administration
Set up drawing sheets, perform code analysis, and lead coordination efforts with consultants
Act as the architectural point of contact for technical questions throughout the project lifecycle
Collaborate with the Project Manager on schedules, deliverables, and progress tracking
Key Qualifications
Degree in Architecture: 5-year B.Arch or a 4-year pre-professional + 3-year M.Arch
Proficiency in Revit with the ability to manage full drawing sets
Experience designing labs of any type (pharma, cGMP, higher ed, hospital, BSL-2, etc.)
Comfortable taking initiative, asking the right questions, and staying accountable to project timelines and quality
