POSITION SUMMARY: Oversee and manage the daily operations of the laboratory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Coordinating with lab staff, Laboratory Director and other departments (LabCorp, local hospital) to ensure efficient and effective lab operations for timely reporting of results to Primary Care Providers.
· Planning, developing and implementing laboratory services.
· Ensuring laboratory compliance w regulatory requirements and maintaining all laboratory certifications.
· Establishing and implementing lab controls and standards to ensure quality and accuracy in tests.
· Implementing and monitoring health and safety measures in the lab.
· Ensuring the maintenance and calibration of the lab equipment and instruments is performed.
· Establishing and implementing lab controls and standards to ensure quality and accuracy in tests.
· Responsible for cleaning, calibrating and maintaining lab equipment and instruments.
· Recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating staff performance.
· Counsels and disciplines employees as needed to achieve productivity and HR goals.
· Developing and managing the laboratory budget.
· Handling and resolving any issues or problems that may arise in the lab with the assistance of Lab Director, Practice Administrator or Human Resources Manager.
· Keeping supplies stocked by determining inventory level.
· Complies with state and professional continuing education licensure requirements.
· Occasional overtime may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs dictate.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Bachelor’s Degree in biology, chemistry, medical laboratory technology AND Certification or Registry Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)/Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) from a government agency or nationally recognized professional organization is required.
· Compliance with Criminal background check and fingerprinting may be required.
· Previous experience in a moderate complexity laboratory is preferred.
· Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others.
· Conduct self in accordance with Cullman Internal Medicine employee handbook.
· Maintains strictest confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
· Adheres to all compliance guidelines and regulations as well as OSHA requirements.
· Participates in educational activities and attends staff meetings.
· Knowledge of computer programs/typing skills.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and employees.
· Must be well organized and detail oriented.
· Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
SALARY LISTED BELOW IS DEPENDENT ON EXPERIENCE. RANGE IS $50,000 TO $58,000 ANNUALLY
