The Job
At their Longview clinic, they are currently seeking a Lab Supervisor. This person will provide technical and scientific oversight of assigned discipline(s) within the clinical laboratory under the direction of the laboratory medical director.
Responsibilities
- Selecting of the test methodology that is appropriate for the clinical application of test results
- Verifying test procedures performed and establishment of the laboratory’s test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system within the assigned laboratory discipline
- Enrolling and participating in an HHS approved proficiency testing program.
- Ensuring compliance with all CLIA regulations governing the preanalytical, analytical and postanalytical phases of testing
- Establishing a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and establish the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensure that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt of the specimen, through sample analysis and reporting of test results
- Resolving technical problems and ensuring that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications
- Ensuring patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly
- Identifying training needs and ensure that everyone performing tests received regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of laboratory services offered canning and uploading charts to digital format as directed
- Evaluating the competency of all testing personnel within the assigned discipline and assuring that the staff maintains their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently within the defined criteria CLIA competency assessment regulations
- Developing and fostering effective communication with staff and customers to collaboratively participate in operation needs, business initiatives, program implementations and process improvement initiatives
- The Lab Supervisor must be available to the laboratory on an as needed basis to provide consultation
- Maintaining HIPPA compliance and upholding utmost integrity and privacy of each and every patient
- Completing daily responsibilities upon arrival and prior to departure of shift (cleaning, stocking, organizing, etc.)
- Adhering to the guiding principles and policies set forth by our client

- Communicating with patients, visitors and staff in a friendly manner
- Promoting a positive work environment by communicating appropriately with patients, visitors and staff

Requirements
- Strong communication and leadership skills and displays a positive attitude and passion for our client
- Maintain flexibility and availability for bench coverage and consultation as needed
- Critical thinking skills; ability to work autonomously and make efficient use of time and resources
- Customer service experience; demonstrated ability in customer service practice related to direct patient care in a high volume, high stress environment
- Experience with Quality Management including strong knowledge of all laws and regulations that are required by CLIA, ANSI, OSHA, Texas and other related legislated and/or state health departments and organizations
- Understanding of clinical care and privacy laws
- Integrity and responsibility; may have access to company credit card and the company vehicle
- Able to work unsupervised; willingness to take an initiative and ability to work as a team member/independently to perform job responsibilities and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and physicians
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, that offers highest level of compassion to all patients, visitors and staff
- Current driver licenses with no restrictions
- Demonstrated competency of Physical Assessment within 90 days, as evaluated by Supervisor
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution
- At least 2 years of laboratory training or experience in non-waived testing, in the designated specialty or subspecialty areas of service for which the Lab Technical Supervisor/Consultant is responsible.
