Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Laboratory Quality Specialist.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for working with staff, supervisors, managers, house staff, and pathologists to facilitate problem resolution for cases with non conformances. This individual with guidance from the QA Leadership will be responsible for developing and maintaining a case resolution process and error reporting infrastructure for the department. The individual will also extract tabulate and analyze quality data. The individual will proactively compile, monitor, interpret, and share quality assurance data for the department inclusive of materials for routine meetings and presentations.
Job Responsibilities:
1 Data Compilation: Compiles data for quality operations such as volume turnaround time reportable diseases. Tracks and records errors creates isolated event reports and reports in the NYU Langone Hospitals. Patient Safety Reporting system PSI when appropriate.
2 Quality Assessment: Facilitates pathologist peer review for diagnostically discrepant cases.
3 Troubleshoots, identifies and facilitates resolution of pathology cases with non conformances. Works on an interlaboratory interpersonal and interdepartmental level to resolve these issues as applicable.
4 Provides timely resolution and feedback to relevant personnel for reported non conformances. Tracks and trends non conformances.
5 Performs follow up audits to assess compliance with corrective actions as requested by Quality Manager
6 Data Compilation Monthly Error Tracking: Collects error tracking and QC data from the entire department inclusive of Tisch LOH CCC and ACC
7 Quality Presentations: Compiles data needed for the pathology department QA presentations and completes the formatted presentation with guidance from QA leadership
8 Proficiency Testing: Updates test activity menu and orders proficiency testing
9 Regulatory: Is up to date with accreditation and regulatory requirements Schedules coordinates and facilitates CAP amp; DOH audits Monitors and assigns trainings
10 Special projects: Assists Administrative Director and Medical Directors as requested and assists with additional special projects as indicated by the Director Quality Systems

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $100,000 - $125,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
