    Job Description

    The Planner I is an entry-level professional position responsible for supporting planning and development activities within a civil engineering firm. This role involves assisting in the preparation of planning documents, conducting research, analyzing data, and collaborating with other team members to deliver high-quality planning services to our clients. The Planner I will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Planner or Planning Manager and is expected to develop a solid understanding of planning principles, practices, and regulations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the preparation of planning documents, including reports, maps, and graphics.
    • Conduct research and collect data on land use, zoning, transportation, environmental factors, and other planning-related topics.
    • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and potential impacts on development projects.
    • Support the development of site plans, land use plans, and master plans in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, environmental scientists, and other professionals on multi-disciplinary project teams.
    • Participate in public meetings, workshops, and presentations to communicate planning concepts and gather stakeholder input.
    • Review and interpret zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, and other planning-related policies.
    • Assist in the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules.
    • Maintain accurate project documentation and files.
    • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.

    What you’ll need to succeed:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
    • 1-2 years of professional experience in urban planning, civil engineering, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
    • Basic knowledge of planning principles, practices, and regulations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other planning-related software is preferred.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Internship or coursework related to urban planning, land use, or civil engineering.
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other design software.
    • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools.

    Additional Information

    Salary $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year

    Position is eligible for full company benefit package, upon completion of probationary period, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K, paid time off, holiday pay, and other benefits.

    $55,000-$55,000 per year
