    AECOM is seeking a talented and experienced Land Use Planner or Transportation Planner to work on a team supporting our contract with Florida's Turnpike Enterprise located in Ocoee, Florida. This position will be responsible for the research, analysis and application of land use data around the state of Florida for use in the recently developed statewide tour-based model and regional travel demand models.

    This Land Use Planner or Transportation Planner position will provide planning/engineering consulting services for Florida's Turnpike Enterprise. This position's primary focus is on traffic and revenue analyses and forecasts related to existing and future toll facilities. Specifically, this position will support the collection and analysis of land use data with a focus on historical, current and anticipated land use trends. This position will also prepare travel demand model socioeconomic data in support of project traffic forecasts and scenario planning efforts.

    The Land Use or Transportation Planner will work with a team of engineers, planners, graphic designers, accountants and GIS staff. The candidate will be part of the Turnpike’s Toll Studies group, assisting on a variety of Turnpike planning projects and studies, providing technical expertise in the general areas of land use planning, transportation planning, project feasibility evaluations, master planning, land use and socioeconomic analysis, and traffic & revenue studies.

    The candidate will be expected to execute project assignments largely with independence, using judgment in making appropriate adaptations and modifications. The candidate may also be required to carry out complex or novel assignments or research requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Occasional travel is required, often driving to project sites located outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

    ** Responsibilities:**

    • Researches, reviews, and summarizes land use developments impacting the existing and future Turnpike System;
    • Coordinates with local agencies regarding existing and future land use;
    • Documents land use assumptions for planning, project feasibility, and traffic and revenue reports;
    • Presents land use development trends using ArcGIS and/or MS PowerPoint;
    • Assists in the development of work scopes, schedules, and budgets for transportation planning projects;
    • Assists in the preparation and presentation of briefings of transportation project study results for clients, stakeholders, and other interested parties;
    • Summarizes transportation project study progress reports for clients;
    • Assists in the conduction of field data acquisition, site investigations and surveys;
    • Assists in the evaluation of transportation systems, roadway level of service, signal operations and forecasts of future transportation needs;
    • Assists in the completion of planning and evaluation studies;
    • Assists in the preparation of reports, recommendations, assessments and impact statements on transportation planning projects;
    • Participates in public meetings or hearings to explain planning proposals, to gather feedback from those affected by projects, or to achieve consensus on project designs;
    • Assists with studies in transportation planning, transportation engineering, corridor studies, and transportation policy;
    • Supports planning assignments including travel demand forecasting, safety studies, transportation feasibility studies, transportation master plans, land use and socioeconomic analysis, and traffic and revenue studies;
    • Uses strong written and oral communication skills to successfully interact with clients, other consultants, and AECOM staff within the Turnpike’s Toll Studies group and to produce top-quality documentation of transportation project studies;
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    ** Minimum:**

    • Bachelor’s degree in planning, public policy, engineering, architecture or related field
    • 2 years of experience as a land use planner, transportation planner, transportation engineer or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Valid US Driver’s License required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint;
    • Knowledge and understanding of Travel Demand Modeling Concepts;
    • One or more of the following certifications: Professional Engineer (PE); American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
