    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Landscape Architect I to be based in New York, NY or in the surrounding area.

    Requirements and responsibilities for this position will include:

    • Understanding NYC DOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details of Construction specific to pedestrian ramps, and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.
    • Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.
    • Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
    • Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.
    • Under some supervision, may complete design assignments of moderate complexity.
    • Introduced to the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BA / BS or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
    • Degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
    • Valid U.S. Driver's License
    • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Be knowledgeable with NYC DOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details of Construction specific to pedestrian ramps, and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)Standards for Accessible Design experience.
    • Be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel, Bluebeam or Adobe Photoshop, and have experience in obtaining field measurements and preparing site plans.
    • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise.
    • Excellent business writing, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work within deadlines.
    • Limited familiarity with codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline.
    • Intermediate understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
    • Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.
    • Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.
    • Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
    • Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.
    • Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets.
    • May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
    • May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.

    Additional Information

    • This role requires frequent travel between job sites during the workday. Milage / gas will be reimbursed.
    • Relocation is not available for this position
    • Sponsorship is not available for this position
