Job Responsibilities:
The role requires a skilled Laser Operator responsible for various tasks, including but not limited to:
- Performing startup checks according to instructions, including verifying oil and water levels as outlined in the maintenance manual.
- Setting up or continuing jobs on the machine, ensuring smooth operation.
- Programming or editing the machine for the next scheduled job.
- Conducting a first-piece check before submitting the first article to inspection. In-process inspections must be performed depending on the sampling of parts (quantity).
- Maintaining a clean workstation, particularly removing slag buildup, to ensure a safe working environment, especially when processing different materials.
- Practicing laser safety at all times in accordance with OSHA Guidelines ANSI Z136.1, which are available in the Laser Room.
Required Experience:
- Familiarity with setups and operations of Mazak & YAG laser machines.
- Experience with programming and editing on Mazak & Fanuc L-64; Fanuc Series 160i-LB controller.
- Proficiency with Mazak Smart System 2D, FG-CADCAM, AutoCAD, and Inventor is a plus.
- Ability to monitor and maintain all oil levels, chiller water, and filters, adhering to designated Mazak maintenance intervals.
- Responsibility for cleaning optics and aligning the laser beam through the “A” and “B” axis mirrors.
- Strong math skills and experience reading aerospace blueprints, with the capability to hold close tolerances. The candidate must perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (must furnish their own tools).
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience.
