    Iris Scientific is a specialty recruitment agency laser focused on sales, marketing, and applications roles in the North American Scientific Instrumentation Industry.  We are working with a world class scientific instrumentation manufacturer to find a field-based Sales Manager for Advanced Lasers, covering the North American Materials Science OEM Market. The position is to be based out of Rochester, NY, and a relocation package will be provided.  A remote location will be considered for an experienced and well qualified candidate

    The successful candidate will have: OEM sales experience in the materials science market, a degree in the physical sciences, some hands-on experience with or knowledge of scientific lasers, outstanding communication skills, and a positive team-based attitude. 

    Reporting directly to the VP Sales/Marketing, the primary role of the Laser Sales Manager is to manage, drive and support the laser business from North American Materials Science OEM accounts, allowing the company to achieve sales and market share goals. This is an exciting and rewarding role for someone who loves: lasers, optics and physics, technology and high-end scientific equipment, driving a strategic sales process, and communicating complex topics.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Focus on strategic business development and sale of laser products to Materials Science OEM customers in North America.
    • Visit potential customers in North America to discuss and demonstrate the company's quality of products and excellent customer service.
    • Coordinate with the VP of Sales & Marketing to develop and execute both short-term and long-term business plans and strategies designed to ensure ongoing success and growth of OEM revenue and profit
    • Provide leadership in identifying, analyzing, and qualifying new OEM and commercial business opportunities with application and product managers.
    • Collaborate with company R&D team to suggestion and implementation of potential improvements on products, whether originating individually or from customer feedback
      • Provide support during product demonstrations, trade show events and workshops
      • Provide executives with strategic market information gained through research in the North American market.
      • Visit company manufacturing facilities in Europe to become familiar with the entire product range
      • Provide timely trip, expense, sales, and service reports

      Qualifications: 

      • 5 Years experience selling products to OEM customers in the materials science markets. 
      • Experience in the materials science, engineering space is preferred, specifically in domains which leverage lasers for critical functions.
      • Degree in biophysics, physical chemistry, physics, photonics, optics or similar experience, MSc or PhD preferred.
      • Hands on experience with scientific lasers is ideal
      • Strong ability to communicate complex topics
      • Excellent organizational and project management skills
      • Goal oriented, structured, and task focused
      • Independent and self-starting
      • Ability to build and maintain customer relationships
      • Ability to identify customer problems, and work to provide solutions
      • Confident negotiation skills with ability to influence
      • Team-Oriented
      • Eager to grow within the role, and to develop and build on skill
      • Requires extensive travel throughout North America, with occasional travel overseas.
      • Must be fully fluent in English
      • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
