    Job Overview

    The CTO will be responsible for driving the technology vision, strategy, and execution for Law&Crime’s broadcast and digital operations. This role requires expertise in video streaming, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, AI-driven content optimization, and scalable digital platforms. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless content delivery, innovate user experiences, and lead a high-performing engineering team and technology team to ensure our tech stack and process flow is best in class for this rapidly evolving media landscape.

    The CTO role carries a broad remit from live broadcast operations and infrastructure management to optimizing post-production workflows to optimizing processes for digital distribution across multiple FAST partners as well social platforms.

    The ideal candidate is a digital first leader who has experience with live production, post-production technologies, digital distribution and familiarity with rapidly evolving AI-driven editing and workflow solutions.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    Technology Strategy & Leadership
    • Day to day oversight of broadcast operations, including live feed intake, troubleshooting, and content delivery across platforms.

    • Define and execute the company’s technology roadmap in alignment with stated business objectives in partnership with leadership

    • Oversee the development and maintenance of streaming and content delivery systems and third party partnerships as well as content management systems (CMS), and digital distribution channels.

    • Deploy AI and machine learning to enhance user engagement, content recommendations and development as well as digital monetization.

    • Ensure scalability and security of the company’s technology infrastructure as the business grows.

    Product Development & Innovation
    • Lead engineering, product, and IT in delivering next-gen streaming experiences.

    • Stay current in emerging technologies in broadcast and digital media, particularly in social video and FAST distribution.

    • Collaborate with content,social media, marketing, and production operations to enhance content delivery and audience engagement.

    • Research and integrate emerging technologies such as 5G, blockchain for digital rights management (DRM) and interactive streaming experiences.

    Infrastructure & Security
    • Manage our cloud-based storage solution (AWS, Google Cloud) to optimize cost and performance.

    • Implement best practices for cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance in media distribution.

    • Audit and current live-streaming infrastructure to ensure best process, tech and vendor partnerships to ensure CDN optimization for smooth playback.

    Business & Technical Collaboration
    • Lead post-production technology, optimizing workflows and supporting tools such as Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro, and AI-based editing solutions/integrations.

    • Build and lead a high-performing tech team, collaborating closely with editorial, production, and content teams.

    • Partner with leadership to identify costs savings/revenue growth opportunities through technology.

    • Work with advertising and subscription marketing to enhance monetization strategies (AVOD, SVOD, FAST).

    • Recommend and build strategic relationships with the right technology vendors, partners, and third-party platforms.


    Qualifications

    • 10+ years experience in technology leadership, preferably in digital media, linear broadcasting, streaming or scaled, live video production

    • Deep understanding of OTT platforms, video encoding, and live streaming technologies (HLS, DASH, RTMP, WebRTC, etc.).

    • Experience managing digital video post-production systems and workflows.

    • Familiarity with Avid, Final Cut Pro, and AI editing tools.

    • Expertise in digital distribution, particularly YouTube, FAST, and Cable.

    • Experience with AI-driven content personalization, analytics, and recommendation engines.

    • Working knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps, and cybersecurity best practices.

    • Familiarity with software development, microservices architecture, and full-stack technologies.

    • Proven leadership and strategic thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred
