Job Description
We are looking to fill a Legal File Clerk position. This position involves the detailed organization of individual files, updating of pleadings in files, and organization of a physical file system. This position is not full-time but is a flexible schedule position until the completion of the project. We prefer candidates with some degree of experience working in a law office. This position would be ideal for a law school student or graduate student as the position offers work schedule flexibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize large amounts of legal documents, invoices, and letters
- Compile legal documentation into files and maintain an organized filing system
- Create photocopies and reproductions of records and legal documentation
- Maintain and update files and databases for other documentation such as personnel records, financial reports, or policies
- Assist paralegals and attorneys in locating files and organizing, copying, and maintaining documents
- Monitor incoming and outgoing mail
- Comfortable with highly confidential information
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in pre-law, administration or related field preferred
- Preferred previous experience working in a law office
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); scheduling and organization skills a must
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to perform a wide range of clerical duties, maintaining files and highly confidential information
- Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize
- Able to organize and manage large amounts of tasks, schedules, and information
