Block LLP is seeking a skilled Law & Motion Attorney to join our dynamic Habitability Litigation Team. This role is ideal for an attorney with strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills. The Law & Motion Attorney will be responsible for drafting and arguing substantive motions, including demurrers, motions for summary judgment/adjudication, oppositions, and various pre-trial and trial motions. The ideal candidate will have experience in plaintiff-side habitability, landlord-tenant disputes, or personal injury litigation, along with a keen ability to craft persuasive legal arguments. This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to achieving justice for tenants facing uninhabitable living conditions. Responsibilities: • Draft and argue complex law and motion matters, including dispositive and evidentiary motions. • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy. • Assist trial teams in developing case theories and refining legal arguments. • Attend and argue motions in state courts, including ex parte applications and other hearings. • Collaborate with litigation teams to strengthen case strategy and support ongoing matters. Qualifications: • J.D. from an accredited law school and active California Bar membership. • 2+ years of experience in civil litigation, preferably with habitability, tenant rights, or personal injury cases. • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. • Experience drafting and arguing dispositive and procedural motions. • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation practice. Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000 yearly
