Junior Associate Employment Law Attorney
WHAT WE DO
SETAREH LAW GROUP
A class-action and complex litigation law firm. We are on the forefront of cutting-edge wage-and-hour law, defining the contours of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other complex litigation. We are not only recognized as experts in our field, but our high-profile cases have continue to set the standard for the benefit of our clients.
We take on the world’s largest companies and zealously advocate for our clients. Our award-winning team has been recognized for their groundbreaking work on legal issues that other firms either overlook or choose not to pursue. Our continued success is driven by our hardworking and dedicated group of attorneys and staff who work tirelessly on every case.
Our practice consists of mainly employment class actions: involving wage-and-hour violations, meal period and rest break violations, failure to pay wages (including minimum wage, overtime, off-the-clock work, split shifts, regular rate), failure to reimburse for expenses, untimely payment of final wages and paystub violations. Our practice also includes claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other complex consumer class actions. We regularly litigate claims for wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment, and sexual harassment.
With more than 200 citable Westlaw citations and a veritable list of successful high-profile cases, our firm was lead counsel in the California Supreme Court's unanimous decision in Troester v. Starbucks Corporation (2018) 5 Cal.5th 829 (departing from the federal de minimus rule with respect to wages) -- undoubtedly one of the most important cases in the last 50 years. Our victory also extended to the FCRA in Gilberg v. California Check Cashing, Inc., 913 F.3d 1169 (2019), which expanded the Ninth-Circuit’s holding in Syed v. M-I, LLC, 853 F.3d 492 (2017), which abolished the notion that a disclosure may not contain a liability waiver -- rather, the Ninth Circuit held that any surplusage in a disclosure form prior to obtaining a background check violates the standalone disclosure requirement under the FCRA.
