The Toddler Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for infants and toddlers in a childcare setting. This role involves designing and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, supporting the social, emotional, and cognitive growth of young children, and collaborating with families to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote developmental milestones. Plan and facilitate daily activities that support sensory, motor, language, and social skills. Assess and adapt curriculum based on individual child needs and developmental progress. Child Development and Supervision:
Observe and document each child's development and behavior to track progress and identify areas for growth. Provide individualized attention and care to ensure each child's needs are met. Create a safe and secure environment where children feel comfortable exploring and learning. Parent and Family Communication:
Maintain open and regular communication with parents regarding their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns. Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide updates on child development. Offer guidance and support to families on developmental milestones and parenting strategies. Health and Safety:
Ensure the classroom and all materials are clean, safe, and conducive to learning. Adhere to health and safety regulations, including sanitation procedures and emergency protocols. Administer first aid and medications as required, following proper protocols. Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to child care and education. Participate in team meetings, professional development, and training sessions. Support and mentor assistant teachers and classroom aides as needed. Record-Keeping and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and confidential records of each child's development, attendance, and any incidents. Prepare and submit reports as required by the center or regulatory agencies. Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. Associate's degree with relevant experience may be considered. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with infants and toddlers in a childcare or educational setting. Certifications: CPR and First Aid certifications are required. Additional certifications in early childhood education are a plus. Skills: Strong understanding of child development theories and practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to create a warm, supportive, and engaging classroom environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry children up to 40 lbs. Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, and engage in activities with children. Ability to handle various classroom equipment and materials. Work Environment:
The role is based in a childcare center or educational facility with standard classroom conditions. May involve outdoor activities and occasional travel for training or meetings.
