Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As the Lead Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a pivotal role in providing excellent patient care and managing the day-to-day operations of our ophthalmic clinic. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team of technicians, collaborate closely with ophthalmologists, and contribute to the overall success of our practice.
Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a team of ophthalmic technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
Perform comprehensive ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including but not limited to visual acuity measurements, tonometry, lensometry, and pupil evaluations.
Assist ophthalmologists with patient examinations, procedures, and surgeries.
Manage patient flow and ensure efficient clinic operations.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
Oversee inventory management and ordering of ophthalmic supplies and equipment.
Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing their inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Stay updated on advancements in ophthalmic technology and procedures, and implement best practices within the clinic.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated patient care.
Uphold high standards of safety and infection control in the clinic environment.
Requirements:
Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) credential preferred.
Previous experience working as an ophthalmic technician, with demonstrated proficiency in diagnostic testing and patient care.
Leadership experience or qualities, with the ability to effectively manage a team and delegate tasks.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and colleagues.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in using ophthalmic equipment and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in patient care.
