Lead Process Technician - Plastic Injection Molding - Base Salary to 60k/year - Providence, RI
Our client, a well-established small family-owned Plastic Mold Injection company, is currently seeking an experienced & mechanically inclined Lead Process Technician (internally titled Lead Plastic Injection Molding Process Technician) for their south Providence, RI location. Our client is looking for a Lead Process Technician with the ability to set up & install molds, set HMI screen parameters, do minor troubleshooting, lead a team of 3-5 operators, use precision measuring tools, and do tear down/change out molds.
This is an onsite role, one shift Monday - Thursday 7am-5pm, potential OT Fridays or Monday - Friday schedule.
Responsibilities:
Start-up machines and ensure standards before turning over to Operators
Assign Operators to jobs/tasks, plan daily workload, and fill-in roles if any gaps
Relieve Operators for scheduled breaks, as needed
Train department employees on safety, quality, and operating procedures
Communicate and document all process changes
Perform job changeovers (teardown previous and set up next job
Install dies safely on machines to support production changeover schedule
Set up and service all workstations within the Molding Department
Manage raw material inventory; prepare materials for processing
Ensure all product meets quality specifications during in-process inspections
Ensure all product is packaged and labeled correctly per specifications
Perform minor troubleshooting to keep jobs running to quality standards
Optimize process parameters to achieve quality parts and improve cycle times
Recommend and support improvement projects to continually improve processes
Monitor department operations to ensure all standard procedures are followed
Purge injection molding machines to shut-down department at end of shift
Adhere to ISO 9001 systems
Qualifications:
HS Diploma or (GED)
Prior related recent work experience in thermoplastic injection molding
Working knowledge of injection mold tooling, thermoplastic resins, hydraulic plastic injection molding presses, and auxiliary equipment
Ability to install and set-up molds, to input correct process parameters on equipment HMI screens, and set process settings correctly using controls
Experience with Toyo hydraulic injection molding machines is a plus!
Able to read measuring devices; Vernier calipers, micrometers, Go/No-go gages
Able to operate scales and count parts by weight
Ability to read and interpret blueprints - strongly preferred
Ability to use hand tools, as well as overhead crane
Basic knowledge of ERP software (IQMS a plus!)
Compensation:
Base salary in the 45k - 60k/year range, flexible dependent on experience
