Job Title: Lead Teacher/Director I
Location: Mattapan, Massachusetts
Position Type: Full-Time
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as a Lead Teacher/Director I at our early education center/afterschool program. The ideal candidate will be licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and will be responsible for both teaching and administrative duties, ensuring the delivery of high-quality early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities:
Educational Leadership:
Develop and implement age-appropriate curricula that align with state standards.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child.
Conduct regular assessments to monitor and document children's progress.
Administrative Duties:
Oversee daily operations of the classroom, ensuring compliance with EEC regulations and center policies.
Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and communication logs.
Coordinate with families to provide updates on children's development and address any concerns.
Staff Supervision and Development:
Lead and mentor assistant teachers and support staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
Conduct performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback.
Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss classroom strategies and student needs.
Program Development:
Collaborate with the administrative team to develop and implement program policies and procedures.
Participate in community outreach efforts to promote the center and its programs.
Stay informed about current trends and best practices in early childhood education.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Completion of at least 18 credits in Early Childhood Education, including courses in Child Growth and Development and Child Care Administration.
Experience:
Minimum of 9 months of supervised work experience as a Lead Teacher, plus an additional 6 months in a supervisory role.
Certification:
Current EEC certification as a Lead Teacher and Director I.
Maintain active status in the EEC Professional Qualifications Registry.
Skills:
Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in curriculum development and classroom management.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and the community.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Capable of bending, stooping, and sitting on the floor to engage with children.
Physically able to perform CPR and First Aid as needed.
