Family Law Assistant – New Jersey
Our client, a highly respected law firm, is seeking a Family Law Assistant to join their Family Law Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to provide critical support to attorneys in navigating complex family law cases. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a client-focused mindset, and a solid understanding of New Jersey family law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys, including calendar management, scheduling, and deadline tracking
- Handle document scanning, emailing, and record maintenance for courts and clients
- Facilitate meetings and appointments, coordinating schedules and logistics
- Draft legal documents under attorney supervision and conduct investigative research to support case preparation
- Interact directly with clients, assisting with e-filing court documents and providing case-related support
- Coordinate court appearances and hearings
- Assist with client billing, reports, and collections
Qualifications & Required Skills:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in family law
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Kofax
- Excellent word processing and computer skills, with strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with NJ family law principles, statutes, codes, court processes, and rules of court
- Ability to work effectively with clients experiencing personal crises, demonstrating patience and professionalism
- Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- Digital dictation skills and willingness to work overtime if requested
