Our busy legal firm is looking for an efficient, organized legal assistant to help our attorneys and paralegals assist clients and ensure we’re operating efficiently. You’ll assist with the preparation of legal documents, and handle all office correspondence including answering phone calls and emails, arranging meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. Responsibilities: • Perform legal research, as needed, with help from attorneys and paralegals • Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines • Be willing to take on any other necessary administrative tasks to help the firm run smoothly • Process client billing properly using daily time records with help from the accounting department • Arrange travel, schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, and coordinate with outside vendors for events • We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to grow our team. Qualifications: • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with quick turnaround times • High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate’s degree is a plus • Comfortable working with all Microsoft Office products • Some knowledge of legal software, case management, and docketing programs • Candidates should have strong organizational skills and communication skills We need a competent and professional assistant who: • Smiles when you answer the phone • Conquers calendars, e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing, and the internet • Is positive and optimistic and who does not live for drama • Is an awesome multi-tasker • Can change gears quickly without stressing out or losing focus • Understands the importance of doing good work, and doing it on time • Can deal with a boss who is always busy, might not give much direction, might get distracted by new exciting things, and who hates dealing with admin stuff • Is not afraid to point out that you need more training or communication from your boss in order to get your work done • Treats a call at 4:30 on Friday with the same care and compassion as one on Monday morning • Knowledgeable and proficient with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel • Familiar with Clio or Lawmatics or similar technology is a plus • Has at least 2 years of experience in the legal assistant field, preferably in estate planning but not required Compensation: $20 - $23 hourly
