Position Summary:
A full-time Personal Injury Litigation Defense Legal Assistant position is available in downtown Orlando. The role supports attorneys handling complex, high-exposure personal injury defense cases and may involve assisting multiple attorneys within the practice group.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a high-volume caseload.
- Identify potential discovery and evidentiary issues.
- Draft discovery responses and non-party subpoenas.
- Prepare and organize documents for production.
- Coordinate expert conferences and compile expert materials.
- Collect client documents and verification pages for interrogatories.
- Draft witness and exhibit lists.
- Prepare exhibits and objections as needed.
Qualifications:
- Drafting medical chronologies and timelines.
- Procuring non-party production.
- Applying Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Understanding medical terminology and billing.
- Assessing liability and damages in personal injury claims.
- Identifying key facts that strengthen or weaken cases.
- Managing expert retention and preparation.
- Communicating with vendors and maintaining calendars.
- Using Microsoft Outlook, Westlaw, and Sunbiz.
Additional Skills:
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Effective teamwork and proactive communication.
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys on various projects.
Education & Experience:
- Five (5) years of experience in personal injury defense preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable in Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Familiarity with ATO (Client Profiles), Juris, Lexis, and Sunbiz is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Paralegal certificate preferred.
Work Environment & Requirements:
- Must be able to commit to on-site work during trial preparation and trial.
- Office or cubicle space will be assigned based on availability.
- Requires prolonged periods of computer work and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
