Applicant (Plaintiff) Workers' Compensation Law Firm, specializing in professional athletes/sports law, is looking to hire an experienced Workers' Compensation professional. Primary responsibilities include: assist with initial client intake, filing applications in EAMS, preparing client files, scheduling medical evaluations, and assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents. You will communicate frequently with prospective clients and current clients over the phone and by email. The ideal candidate is organized and a self-starter, with at least three to five years of experience as a legal assistant.
Qualifications:
Three to five years' experience as a legal assistant.
Experience with Workers' Compensation rules and procedures;

Genuinely care about clients and want to deliver an outstanding experience;
Experience drafting Advocacy Letters and scheduling client medical appointments: Qualified Medical Evaluation (QME), Primary Treating Physician (PTP), and Secondary Treating Physician (STP) appointments;
Experience requesting Panel Qualified Medical Evaluations (PQMEs);
Ability to schedule and calendar travel, depositions, hearings;
Tech-savvy and able to navigate systems with ease; and
Eager to learn.
Responsibilities:
Communicate professionally with prospective clients & current clients, QME offices, firm staff, and defense counsel.
Promptly respond to calls and emails.
Send and review intake forms/questionnaires, collect additional documents, facts, background, information, or applicable law about prospective clients.
Cross-check and verify information.
Input prospective clients, clients, defense counsel, third party administrator, and professional contacts into case file.
Filing in EAMS: Applications, DORs, Liens, etc.
Organizing new client information/case files.
Schedule meetings and appointments, including but not limited to depositions and medical evaluation appointments.
Draft AQME Advocacy Letters.
Prepare clients for medical evaluations.
Ensure hearings and conferences are calendared with reminders to attorneys/paralegals.
Ensure cases are handled with confidentiality and conscientious of working with sensitive and privileged client information.
Draft and complete legal research as needed under the supervision of attorneys and senior legal assistants.
Serve reports to defense counsel.
Take care of administrative tasks and office correspondence by answering phone calls and emails, as well as manage incoming and outgoing mail.
Additional duties as assigned by attorneys, office manager and/or senior paralegals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with the Workers Compensation Appeals Board (“WCAB”) a plus - but not required.
Familiarity with sports teams and professional athletes, and a general appreciation for professional sports is preferred.
