Our client, an international law firm with offices throughout the United States, seeks a temporary Legal Assistant/Secretary to join its busy Miami office. Our ideal candidate will assist attorneys with all aspects of litigation including discovery, court filings and trial preparation. This role is at a global firm with a 2/3 hybrid schedule until approximately March 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing preliminary pleadings, i.e. notices of appearance/email designations, deposition notices, motions for extensions, discovery pleadings and assist attorneys with removal from state to federal court filings and service of discovery
- Intake of all incoming correspondence and court filings, including saving into file appropriately and calendaring all deadlines without supervision
- Schedule depositions, hearings, and conferences. Will be solely responsible for routine follow ups for each, and coordinating/finalizing with counsel and court reporters
Position Requirements:
- Superior organizational skills, the ability to handle a fast-paced environment, multitask, pay strict attention to detail and take initiative to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner with minimal errors is required
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Effective communication skills and ability to proactively manage assignments
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a legal assistant
- Knowledge of iManage and/or ChromeRiver highly preferred
- Thorough working knowledge of and experience with e-filing portals for counties across the state of Florida and federal courts
