About the job
The Position
Ten lawyer law firm located in Capital View (North Gulch) in Nashville, TN. The position is for a Legal assistant to three attorneys; one attorney working in the area of estate planning and probate, real estate and tax, and the other two attorneys in general civil litigation.
Key Responsibilities
• File and organize paper and electronic documents
• Set up files for clients, manage and maintain paper and electronic files
• Respond to client requests for documentation
• Answer client calls, and schedule appointments
• Process daily incoming and outgoing mail
• Type correspondence, pleadings, and legal and transactional documents of all types including wills, trusts, powers of attorney and probate court filings
• Type draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and filing with the courts
• Drafting and filing documents with the SOS, Electronic filing systems with the courts
• Search and retrieve information from court-related databases as well as other online sources of case information
• Type billable time into Juris software program, and proof, review and send out bills
• Generate, manage and process each attorney's bills and payments from clients
• Document management and organization.
• Schedule conferences and depositions and court hearings; maintain attorney calendars.
• Manage and pay bills for attorneys, third party vendors, process check requests and follow-up with account.
• Prepare check register type accountings on Quicken for estates and trusts, escrow accounts
• Prepare and keep updated and organized pleadings files
Qualifications
• Prior experience in a law firm setting required
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook)
• Candidates with experience in Juris Legal billing software and Quicken preferred
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent typing skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 2007 (Word, Outlook)
