    The Wisconsin office of Patterson Earnhart Real Bird and Wilson, LLP is located in downtown Madison. We are a fast-paced law firm with offices in Colorado, Washington D.C., North Dakota, Wisconsin and New Mexico serving American Indian tribes, tribal entities and individual tribal members across the United States.

    We are looking for a Legal Assistant/Website and Social Media Coordinator to join our amazing team of legal professionals. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of legal assistant experience, website and social media editing experience, can multi-task and is willing to learn and work together as a team in order to best serve our clients. Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail are a must for a candidate to be successful in this role.

    Overall Responsibility:

    Support one of the firm’s equity partners in our growing Madison, WI office with client development and legal assistant efforts. Position to begin as mostly remote with some days in person as needed and ability to grow with the office into a FT in-person position. Some travel may be required for client development conferences.

    Responsibilities include:

    Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities.

    Excellent proofreading skills.

    Skilled in legal writing with ability to independently prepare initial drafts of discovery requests and responses, declarations, various motions, and other commonly used documents and pleadings.

    Compile and organize digital files, mediation binders, and trial notebooks and exhibits.

    Review court rules in numerous courts to determine filing deadlines and court-specific formatting and filing requirements.

    File and serve pleadings, motions, and other documents with tribal, federal and state trial and appellate courts.

    Document management and coordination of documents for production as well as document review, redaction, organization, and summarization for purposes of discovery and depositions.

    Communicate with courts, clients, witnesses, experts, and/or opposing counsel as needed.

    Make travel arrangements and meeting plans.

    Prepare expense reimbursements.

    Maintain attorney calendars, litigation deadlines, schedules and billing entries.

    Produce bi-monthly e-newsletters through the website

    Make website edits and updates as needed

    Maintain an up-to-date database of client/potential client contacts and other interested parties for distribution of e-newsletters and other communications as requested.

    Identify opportunities to enhance the online presence of both the Firm and individual attorneys through LinkedIn, Chambers, Martindale-Hubbell (AV ratings), and other available outlets; coordinate with and assist attorneys in developing their individual online profiles to ensure follow-through.

    Coordinate with individual attorneys to ensure that all attorney resumes are consistent in form and style and updated as needed; maintain resumes in an easily accessible format in NetDocuments.

    Travel to client development events, as directed (likely 3-6 events per year)

    When in attendance at events, assume primary responsibility for engaging with exhibit hall attendees, including clients and potential clients, and communicating any pertinent information regarding these contacts to Firm attorneys.

    Qualifications include:

    2 + years of legal assistant experience

    Website and social media editing experience

    Attention to details.

    Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills; ability and willingness to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of personalities.

    Analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Strong planning and organizational skills.

    Ability to multitask and prioritize with minimal oversight.

    Flexible, good judgment, discretion, and a strong work ethic.

    Team player.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, NetDocuments - Clio software experience is a plus.
