We are looking for a skilled Controller to maintain controls of the accounting functions. This position will provide transactional, analytical, and technical support within the accounting department. Accounting duties include facilitating the month end close process, posting journals, reconciling, reviewing, and researching transactions. This position is 100% onsite.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 6 accounting professionals.
- Core responsibility is to own the closing of the monthly financials in a timely manner
- Oversee the Staff Accountant's reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
- Create, maintain, and upload journals accurately and timely
- Lead physical inventory process and internal/external audits
- Filing required returns and maintain company’s status for conducting international business
- Develop, monitor and maintain internal control guidelines and SOP’s for accounting functions
- Maintain internal/external relationships to facilitate accurate transactions
- Maintain subject knowledge expertise with GAAP
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven working experience as Controller or Sr. accountant
- Solid understanding of GAAP and industry regulations
- Solid understanding of Cost Accounting
- Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
- Working knowledge of payroll, AP and AR functions
- Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software, also familiar with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transmissions,
- Working knowledge of federal, state and local taxes and reporting
- Proficiency in English and in MS Office (i.e. advanced Excel)
- Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Manufacturing experience
EDUATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field; CPA with a strong background in inventory accounting is preferred.
Five years of Controller experience involving complex accounting transactions. Accounting experience in a manufacturing industry is a plus.
