    Job Description

    The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of both direct and indirect care. As an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, the nurse delivers patient and community-centered care, advocating for patients and their families by acting as a liaison and upholding their rights and beliefs. Utilizing evidence-based medical practices, the LPN effectively manages unexpected and emergent situations, promptly addressing and treating a variety of injuries and illnesses with professionalism and expertise.

    International SOS Government Medical Services is recruiting Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to support our medical staffing projects West Virginia. LPNs may work in temporary, short-term, or long-term jobs. Recruited personnel might be working alongside our clients’ teams or as part of our own multidisciplinary teams, in secured federal facilities, medically remote locations, industrial projects, or our own clinics in long-term care or acute care facilities.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
    • Administer medications and monitor their effects.
    • Monitor and record vital signs.
    • Assist patient with daily living activities.
    • Provide therapeutic interventions and assist with crisis management.
    • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate high quality patient care.
    • Educate patients and their families about treatment plans and health management.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
    • Advocate for patient rights and ensure a safe treatment environment.
    • Initiate protocols for emergent situations where immediate action is necessary to prevent harm or injury.
    • Respond to inquiries of family members, advocates and other interested parties, insuring adherence to the confidentiality laws, and HIPPA Regulations
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements/Certifications:

    • Minimum of one year of clinical experience in direct patient care as a licensed practical or vocational nurse.
    • Experience in detention or correctional healthcare, residential healthcare, a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided direct care.
    • Experience with pediatric and adult patients.

    Education Required:

    • Licensed by the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses. West Virginia is a member of the National Council of State Board of Nursing and participates in the multistate Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
    • Program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
    • Licensure must be maintained current, and any required education, trainings, continued education to maintain licensure must be completed within the required timeline for completion by the licensing/ certifying authority.
    • Candidate should not have had any professional licensure withheld, suspended, revoked, or denied, and the candidate must not have surrendered or allowed a licensure/certification to have expired or lapsed because of an investigation or disciplinary action. Any National Practitioner Database finding will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
    • Candidate must not have been convicted of, pled guilty to, pled nolo contender to, or received probation before judgement for any crime other than a minor traffic violation, the record of which has not been expunged.
    • LPN(s) assigned to one of the acute care psychiatric facilities must have a minimum of one (1) year experience and working knowledge of the concepts of mental health, health disorders and related physical conditions and related treatment approach.
    • LPN(s) assigned to an acute care setting must have successfully completed a course in Intravenous therapy and training in venipuncture which permits the LPN(s) to start Intravenous fluids.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification must be from one of the following approved organizations:
    • a. American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for health care providers
    • b. American Red Cross CPR/BLS for the professional rescuer
    • c. American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR and AED for healthcare providers and professional responders.
    • Course components must include Adult, Pediatric, and Infant CPR, Foreign Body Airway Obstruction, and Automatic Defibrillator (AED) proficience

    Physical Requirements:

    • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
    • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
    • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.

    Other Special Qualifications:

    • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
    • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
    • May be required to travel short notice, or to serve in various medical units within the region or location.

    Compensation| Min: $40hr Max: $50hr

    Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
