Job description
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our detox and withdrawal management program. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing detoxification from substance abuse, ensuring their safety and comfort during this challenging phase of recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Conduct initial assessments, including vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and medical history.
Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for effectiveness and side effects.
Provide ongoing monitoring and support for patients experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
Clinical Coordination:
Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to implement and adjust treatment plans.
Document patient progress and communicate any concerns to the medical team.
Respond to medical emergencies and implement crisis intervention measures as needed.
Patient Education and Support:
Educate patients about the detox process, medication management, and healthy lifestyle choices.
Offer emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their treatment.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations regarding patient care and documentation.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
Team Collaboration:
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment goals.
Assist in training and mentoring new staff.
Work collaboratively with other staff to provide high-quality patient care.
Qualifications:
Current LPN license in the state of Minnesota.
Experience in a detox, substance abuse, psychiatric, or related healthcare setting preferred.
Excellent assessment and clinical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and emotionally challenging environment.
Basic computer and documentation skills.
CPR/BLS certification is required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and moving patients.
Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods.
Work Environment:
This role involves working in a detox and withdrawal management setting, which can be high-stress and emotionally demanding. The LPN will interact with patients experiencing varying levels of substance withdrawal and will need to maintain professionalism and compassion at all times.
