Qualifications
Education: Graduation from accredited College of Practical Nursing, accompanied by current nursing license in each state of desired practice.
Experience: One year or more of full-time clinical practice in each specialty area.
Certifications: Current BLS/CPR training with card, any other specialty certifications required for working in specific specialty areas (PALS, ACLS, NRP, etc.)

Summary of Licensed Practical Nurse Duties
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide supplemental/contract services to our clients, and will strive to provide these services in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion. The LPN will work under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse at the facility assigned to and understands the limitations and scope of care able to be given according to the specific education level attained. The LPN will work very closely with the supervising RN collaborating their efforts in order to deliver the nursing process effectively.
The LPN will observe, record, report, and assist in the nursing plan of care, the implementation of care, and the evaluation of the patient status and progress. The LPN also understands that by accepting an assignment, the nurse is aware of the potential exposure to internal and external hazardous materials including but not limited to: blood and blood borne pathogens, infectious/communicable diseases, noise, excessive physical injury from patients, airborne dusts, fumes, and gases.
Duties/Responsibilities/Functions
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will perform your job duties in accordance with Federal, State, VA, and local laws, while upholding the utmost ethical and safe techniques always keeping the care of the patient as your top priority. You will work very closely with the entire team of healthcare professionals in the organization/facility you are assigned to and must have a complete understanding of your limitations in turn seeking advice when necessary. These are just some of the duties that you will be expected to do, but are not limited to the following:
· Perform all nursing duties following the in accordance with Federal, State, VA, and local laws, while adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
· Provide direct patient care, and reports any changes in patient status to the supervising RN to insure patient comfort and safety.
· Assist physicians and all healthcare professionals when caring for patient, always giving a complete and thorough report on patient status at end of shift/assignment to supervising RN.
· Perform routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all times.
· Practices patient teaching/training for patients and families according to plan of care.
· Follow organizational policy when disposing of biohazardous materials, labeling and handling of all materials.
· Actively demonstrates a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles, and practice to holistically care for the patient while reporting any changes to RN in patient’s condition following up with proper documentation.
· Distribute prescribed medications to assigned patients orally, topically, subcutaneously, intradermal and intramuscularly under the direct supervision of the RN.
· The LPN will be knowledgeable of all medications, reactions, and dosage requirements.
· Communicate with all staff, patients, and families with excellent written and verbal skills.
· Consistently seek educational tools and in-services to broaden knowledge base of various age groups, diseases, and best practices.
· Will handle and be knowledgeable of all medical equipment utilized in the care of the patient.
· Must be able to perform various sensory requirements such as; vision, speech, smell, touch, manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and hearing in order to assess and treat the patient accurately.
· Comply with all facility/organizational policies and procedures, while upholding the high expectations of The Ultimate Care, LLC.
· Accountable and responsible for each specific patient assigned while under direct supervision of the supervising RN.
· Is punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.
