Job description
Seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), an individual with specific knowledge and technical skills to assist the Registered Nurse (RN) in providing impeccable care for a designated group of patients. The LVN/LPN utilizes the Nursing Process to provide therapeutic care to patients, under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN). We are seeking a team player that is compassionate, empathetic, and self-motivated with emotional self-control.
As an integral part of the team, it is important you play your part with integrity and office etiquette that aligns with smooth outpatient flow resulting in optimum patient satisfaction and clinic operations. The Ambulatory Licensed Vocational/Practice Nurse applies the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to varied patient populations and their families.
Essential Duties:
• Escorting patients to exam rooms, obtains and appropriately records patient vital signs/medication list
• Monitor patient flow, assists physicians with minor clinical procedures,
• Performs EKGs, prepares patient charts with pertinent medical information
• Administer medication and prescription management as directed upon physicians request.
• Schedule diagnostic tests and surgeries as ordered by the physician when needed.
• Performs various administrative duties, including answering patient calls, returning phone calls, receiving and sorting faxes and obtaining prior authorizations.
• Ensure patient's right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality maintained in accordance with standards, policies, and safety regulations as well as ensuring compliance with infection control policies.
• Use and practice basic assessments, participate in planning, execute interventions in accordance with the plan of care or treatment plan, and contribute to evaluation of individualized interventions related to the care plan or treatment plan.
• Demonstrates professional communication skills for the purpose of patient care, education and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
• Ensures patient charts are prepared prior to appointment including x-rays and pertinent lab work, makes arrangements to obtain any special equipment needed. Sets up exam rooms, assists physician with exams as needed, monitors patient flow
• Serves as a liaison between physicians and other individuals.
• Takes patient histories and vital signs and documents accordingly in the EMR.
• Implants an effective and efficient patient flow.
• Performs first aid and CPR if needed.
• Assists physicians with exams and treatments as permitted by license.
• Organizes pharmacy refill request for physician approval.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting to accomplish duties in a timely manner.
• Triages patients in person and over the telephone.
• Records patient information in chart/EHR according to regulatory standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
Required Qualifications:
• High school or equivalent
• Specialized/technical training Graduate of an accredited Vocational/Practical Nursing Program
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients with an attitude of gratitude. The capacity to ebb and flow in a Teamwork setting with capability of maintaining morale for coworkers and patients is essential.
• Proficient computer skills: Familiarity with working on the internet, word processing in Microsoft Office specifically MS Word and Outlook and Cerner charting system is a plus.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service etiquette.
• Strong interpersonal communication and empathetic skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information
• Able to make decisions efficiently, professionally and with appropriate stakeholder input
Preferred Icing on the cake Qualifications and experience:
• 2 years’ Experience in a surgical care, acute care or ambulatory care setting.
• LVN - Intravenous Therapy Certification (CA DCA) IV certification
• Licensed Vocational Nurse - LVN (CA DCA) Valid California Vocational Nursing license
