    You may have also acquired the following skills:

    • Knowledge and understanding of all subsequent license renewal guidance contained in NUREG-2191 (GALL-SLR) and NUREG-2192 (SRP-GALL) for both pressurized water reactors and boiling water reactors with the following emphasis:

      • Class 1 Mechanical Aging Management Review (AMR) experience including detailed experience with RPV surveillance programs (plant-specific and integrated), reactor vessel internals MRP-227 Rev 1-A and MRP-227 SLR, ASME Section XI, Subsection IWB and Appendices A-L (including technical bases), ASME Section III Subsection NB (including technical bases), Alloy 600 Program, Cast Austenitic Stainless Steel, Fatigue Monitoring Program, Boric Acid Wastage program, Class 1 materials of construction and age-related degradation of these materials (aging effects).

      • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of all Class 1 Time-Limited Aging Analysis (TLAA) including, but not limited to, reactor pressure vessel neutron embrittlement (PTS, USE, equivalent margins, underclad cracking, neutron transport analyses), metal fatigue including FIV and environmental assisted fatigue, leak-before-break, reactor coolant pump flaw tolerance analyses, and reactor vessel internals ductility.

    • Demonstration of successful completion of subsequent license renewal application Class 1 AMR and TLAA support for one or more plants that have submitted an SLRA.
      Understanding of SLRA guidance for aging management review of non-Class 1 Mechanical, Civil/Structural, and Electrical SSCs as reported in NUREG-2191, NUREG-2192, and the EPRI Mechanical, Civil/Structural/Electrical Tools.

    • Develop certification as well as 10 CFR 50.59 screening and evaluation packages to validate statements of fact.

    • Experience with NRC Staff / ACRS (e.g., presentations to regulatory authorities).

    • Good knowledge of nuclear regulatory affairs with emphasis on 10 CFR Part 54 (license renewal), with experience advising and representing clients before the NRC and U.S. DOE.

As a Licensing Engineer in Lynchburg, VA (remote work will also be considered), you will be part of the proven team in the Installed Base Business Unit. Your work will include:

    • Development, review, and implementation of regulatory correspondence associated with License Renewal and Subsequent License Renewal activates, License Amendment Requests, as well as 10 CFR 50 Part 21 and 50.59 support.
    • Provides assistance and instruction on most assignments and solutions.
    • Ensures compliance with government, organization, and customer engineering standards.
    • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making more complex adaptations and modifications.
    • Develops new or adapted products, methods, systems, or models to provide added value solutions to customers.
    • Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods, and improvements.
    • Works on special projects, as directed.

    Your Total Rewards Package

    The range of base salary for the position is between $82,000 - $111,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.

    • Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer 2024 semester.
