Life Skills Coach - Colusa

We are looking for part-time support staff in Colusa. This position is about 18-19 hours per week, with additional hours available on call.
Sundays 4 pm - 8:30 pm, Mondays 11:30 am - 5 pm, Wednesdays 1 pm - 8:30 pm, and Thursdays 2 pm - 4 pm
Starting Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour

JOB DESCRIPTION
Supportive Living Services (SLS) is a program designed to provide in-home and community-based assistance to adults with developmental disabilities who live in their own homes. Life Skills Coaches assist individuals with the goals they have set for themselves assist them with living their best, most fulfilling and independent life.
In this position, a few examples of the type of work you will be doing may include assisting the individual with: learning daily skills and activities, menu planning, grocery shopping, cooking, budgeting, cleaning, using public transportation, making and attending medical and dental appointments, joining clubs or Special Olympics teams, volunteering, and social leisure activities.
Other duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide in-home and community based assistance to consumers according to individual service programs set up by Alta California Regional Center and New Start SLS.
Documenting of daily charting notes.
Reporting of issues and concerns regarding consumers to New Start Case Manager.
Attending in-service training sessions and continued education when offered.
Assisting with special events or projects.
Some of the individuals we support use electric or manual wheelchairs, receive assistance with adaptive equipment for transfer, and require personal care assistance (ex: toileting, bathing, brushing teeth).
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to work with and support individuals who have disabilities
Must have at least 1 year experience. Examples of experience include providing support to individuals who have disabilities, caregiving, education, mentoring, coaching, and or volunteer.
Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
Must be able to pass a DOJ Live Scan Fingerprint Background Check.
Must show evidence of a negative TB test & clear physical within 90 days of hire.
Pre-Requisite: Must provide proof of current CPR + First Aid certification or be willing to become certified prior to starting employment.
Some of the individuals we serve require support staff assist with transportation. If driving clients, to be eligible to drive clients support staff must be willing to use their own personal vehicle during the course of employment. They must also provide and maintain proof of valid CA Driver’s License & drivers/vehicle insurance, and a clean DMV driving record.
