JOB DESCRIPTION
A lifeguard is responsible for the safety of all swimmers at the pool, slide, and/or lazy river at the property. Lifeguards must act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of guests in the event of an emergency situation. Lifeguards also ensure that all pool, slides, and/or lazy river rules and policies are followed for the safety of all guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Maintain constant surveillance of guests in the pool, slide, and/or lazy river facilities
Provide emergency care and treatment until the arrival of emergency medical services, as required
Act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of guests in the event of an emergency
Rescues guests and performs appropriate follow-up procedures, including the proper use of equipment in the performance of first aid and CPR
Safeguard and regulate pool guests by enforcing pool policies, rules, and regulations
Assists in the proper maintenance and sanitary up keep of the pool facility
Prepare activity reports and/or accident reports, as needed
Monitor pool-related activities and report any safety issues
Direct guests out of the pool in hazardous conditions
Open the pool facility in the morning and close the pool facility at the end of the day
Maintain a safe environment in and around the pool facility
Attend in-service training, as required
Provides excellent guest service, while continuing to monitor pool facility
Operates equipment safety and reports any unsafe work conditions to supervisor
Any and all duties assigned by management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must have American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate, American Red Cross First Aid certificate, and American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificate
Previous lifeguard experience is preferred
Must have reliable transportation
Must be able to pass pre-employment testing (i.e. drug test, background check, etc)
Must have full availability and be able to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Ability to read, write and speak English (multi-lingual a plus)
Ability to understand, follow and give written and oral instructions
Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers
Ability to interact with guests and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner
Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees and guests
Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
Follow all company policies and procedures
Thank guests with genuine appreciation
Speak with others using clear and professional language
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures
Abilities (<8 hours per day) reach, bend, twist, pull, push, grasp, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, running, sitting, climbing, reaching overhead, and swim
Ability to frequently (<8 hours per day) lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds of weight
Ability to (<1 hour per day) lift more than 50 pounds of weight, as needed during rescue
Ability to frequently immerse body in water frequently
Ability to work outdoors, including prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures and intense or inclement weather conditions
