    Job Description

    NBC Connecticut is seeking a Host for a live, daily, half-hour lifestyle program. Responsibilities include working with the producer in developing show themes and developing compelling content that can also be used on-line, guiding guests through the appearance process including research, pre-interviews, and interviews for both studio and live location presentations. You will work closely with the sales team on the execution of integrated advertising content and pre-recorded advertising content.

    The Show Host will perform daily hosting duties of CT Live! NBC Connecticut’s lifestyle show. This role will also participate in all aspects of broadcast and digital production including generating ideas for stories, conducting interviews, writing, editing and producing packages, and supporting the overall content production. In addition, the host serves as a public representative of the show.

    • Perform on-air responsibilities for the show and digital, social and streaming platforms as required.
    • Generate story ideas for segments; contribute story ideas for key show pieces.
    • Research content and conduct interviews.
    • Assist with daily writing of show content.
    • Develop, write and produce packages. Shoot and edit packages for integration in the show.
    • Build relationships for the purpose of developing connections for story leads. Develop and cultivate contacts within the community. Maintain sources.
    • Absorb background information related to program content and relate to viewers and guests.
    • Work with teleprompter, work in the field (live and tape).
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    _ Basic Qualifications:_

    • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of 2 years on-air or broadcast experience is required

    • This position is an AFTRA Represented job. Successful candidate will be required to join the AFTRA Union upon employment if not already a member.
    • Required on site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications.
    • Experience as a General Assignment Reporter
    • Experience in newsgathering and/or production
    • Experience writing, producing and desktop editing
    • Excellent writing skills as well as very strong speech skills.
    • Effective self-starter with proven ability to produce
    • Must have a passion for news, pop culture and entertainment
    • Able to ad-lib effortlessly in various types of situations.
    • Strong live reporting skills
    • Understanding of Social Media (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
    • Digital knowledge and understanding of self-promotion in broadcast and social media
    • Possess the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to enterprise, research and plan stories.
    • Demonstrated experience generating and producing news stories.
    • Prior experience delivering taped and live reports
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
