Description: The Line Cook is a crucial member of our kitchen team, responsible for preparing high-quality dishes with precision and efficiency. Working under the direction of the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager, they execute recipes to ensure consistency and excellence in taste and presentation. In addition to their primary cooking duties, Line Cooks also assist with various tasks in the back of the house, including dishwashing and cleaning, to maintain a sanitary and organized kitchen environment. It's imperative to note that Line Cooks do not earn tips but are valued for their hard work and dedication to culinary excellence.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes and standards.
Ensure all dishes are cooked to the appropriate temperature and presented attractively.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and hygienic work area.
Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and preparing sauces.
Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient execution of orders.
Monitor food inventory levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies to the Kitchen Manager.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
Help with general kitchen duties, including dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitizing equipment.
Follow instructions from the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager and contribute to a positive team environment.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a line cook or similar role preferred.
Solid understanding of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment operation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff.
Food handler's certification or willingness to obtain one.
