You will work closely with our senior partners and associates, conduct legal research, draft documents, and maintain client files. Responsibilities: • Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys • Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings • Resolve cases efficiently by using communicating effectively with and working alongside senior attorneys and paralegals • Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys, paralegals and support staff • Assist clients in determining a proper solution to legal conflicts and determine the best course of action • Quality Client experience is a huge part of the firm’s culture • If you would like to expand your legal knowledge in an underserved legal area, then please apply • Will be the lead attorney on cases after proper training and proving yourself after a set probationary period • Research issues related to clients’ cases • Attend hearings in front of various licensing entities, including the Office of Administrative Hearings, state agencies, and professional licensing boards • Attend settlement conferences with various licensing entities, including the Office of Administrative Hearings, state agencies, and professional licensing boards • Attend meetings with Board and Agency investigators • Draft and file legal documents (pleadings, motions, etc.) • Come up with legal theories for clients’ cases and execute plans for hearings and settlement conferences • Communicate with clients; if you like to communicate with clients or go the extra mile to make the client happy, then please apply Qualifications: • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school • Successful completion of the bar exam • Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients • Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA) • Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base • J.D. degree and active law license in North Carolina are required • Display excellent written, problem-solving, and verbal communication skills • History of being deadline-driven and extremely organized • Courtroom experience is preferred, but not required • Experience in professional licensing/administrative law matters is preferred but not required • Proficient in basic computer software and can quickly learn to use new programs • Self-starter able to work independently and adhere to the firm’s policy and procedure manual • Experience with cloud-based technology, specifically Google Drive & law firm management software, to name a few are required • Ability to work as a member of a team is necessary • The use of a calendar and a task management system is required • The ability to use meeting software, like ‘Zoom’, ‘Google Meet’ and ‘Microsoft Teams’, is required • Must have a valid driver's license • There will be some work in Superior Court via appeals of agency/board decisions and other professional license-related matters Compensation will include a 401(k) option after 12 months of employment Health insurance benefits after 6 months of employment Paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) after 6 months of employment After 60 days, work-from-home may be available Please submit a cover letter along with a resume in PDF format in order to be considered.
