    Flanagan, Barone & O’Brien, LLC (“FBO”) is a successful, growing firm which embraces diversity in seeking to build a strong team of professionals. FBO is currently seeking a Litigation Associate with 3 to 5 years of experience. The position provides the opportunity to work both independently and as part of our strong litigation team. In this role, you will provide legal counsel, perform legal research, draft documents, and update and maintain files. You will gain experience and have the opportunity to learn from more experienced attorneys. This position is ideal for someone seeking to develop and grow in their law career.

    Responsibilities:

    Handle all aspects of insurance defense matters (auto, slip and fall, construction, products liability and property damage matters), including discovery, court appearances, depositions/examinations under oath, expert issues, and client management;

    Conduct legal research;

    Draft pleadings, briefs, motions, discovery, required client reports;

    Render opinions on liability, damages and case value; and

    Appear before courts and arbitrators/mediators.

    Qualifications:

    JD from an accredited law school;

    Admitted to practice law in New Jersey;

    3-5 years of defense litigation experience;

    Experience with insurance defense, auto, slip and fall and construction litigation;

    Ability to integrate into a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;

    Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;

    Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills;

    Ability to collaborate with colleagues to best serve clients;

    Excellent research skills;

    Computer proficiency;

    Ability to maintain/enter billable time;

    Ability to prioritize assignments and case load; and

    Ability to meet client deadlines.

    Candidate must be a motivated, self-starter who demonstrates a commitment to providing quality client service and adhere to work completion deadlines.

    Candidate must be a member in good standing with the New Jersey Bar and be able to travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, etc.
