This client is a growing mid-sized law firm with several locations throughout New York state. They are looking for a Litigation Collections Paralegal to join their growing team. This is an in-office position in downtown Rochester, NY. Salary in the $50-75k range, depending on experience. Who We’re Looking For:
Do you enjoy supporting law partners by keeping them organized and working efficiently? In this role, you bring a background in collections law and litigation support, with a keen ability to manage a high volume of cases. You’ll play a key role in supporting the attorneys by handling various aspects of the collections process, from case-initiation to post-judgement enforcement. Your superb interpersonal communication skills are used daily to interact with all levels of internal staff as well as external clients. You understand there is a high level of confidentiality in this role and you have a strong sense of urgency, changing gears quickly when necessary. You excel at having a broad range of responsibilities.
What To Expect As a Litigation Collections Paralegal:
- Assist attorneys in managing a high volume of collection cases, ensuring timely and accurate progression through the legal process
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on case status, and responding to inquiries in a timely manner
- Coordinate with clients to gather necessary documentation and information related to outstanding debts
- Maintain and organize case files, including electronic records, pleadings, correspondence, and discovery documents
- Draft legal correspondence and communicate with debtors, creditors, clients, and opposing counsel
- Prepare and file court documents, such as complaints, motions, and garnishments, with the court and county offices
- Familiar with FDCPA and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications For Success:
- Paralegal Certificate, Bachelor’s or Associates degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 2 years of paralegal experience, collections expertise preferred
- Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Takes pride in submitting work products of a high standard
- Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information
- Enjoys taking ownership of their work product
- Possess an independent work style to be proactive in following up on matters where there is little guidance
- Excellent time management, organizational abilities, attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present clean, organized, and thorough information appropriate for the intended audience
