Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Litigation Paralegal to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for drafting and editing legal documents, spreadsheets, reports, background information from clients and third parties to complete applications or documents to be submitted to court or to an administrative agency. Additionally, this position also entails administrative tasks such as answering telephones, sending faxes or emails, filing documents and conduct interviews for new hire. You will be responsible for assisting in all Litigation Process and candidate should be hardworking and detail-oriented.
Responsibilities
Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research, and initial case assessments
Draft pleadings, motions, and appellate documents, and files them with the court
Ensure that case-related documents are well organized and available for review
Provide administrative duties, which includes calendar hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics
Communicate with clients
Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
Maintain and update documentation
Organizes exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices
Aids attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests by obtaining information from clients to respond to interrogatories and requests for discovery or by obtaining information from third parties.
Gathers relevant information from a variety of sources such as banks, insurance companies, medical records, past employers, retirement plan providers, courts, probation officers, government agencies, and other entities.
Liaises between trial teams and internal and/or external third parties.
Helps with voir dire, jury selection , and witnesses preparation by drafting voir dire questions, and developing jury profiles at the attorney's direction.
Provides assistance with case settlements by compiling and calculating medical bills, court cost fees, and other expenses associated with case settlement in litigation or mediation proceedings

Previous experience as a Litigation Paralegal or similar role is preferred
Paralegal or legal certification or BA/BS Degree as a Paralegal is preferred
Familiarity with legal procedures, terminology, and the court system
Strong verbal and written communication skills along with attention to detail. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Highly organized with document management experience
Excellent research skills
Comfortable Microsoft Office and case management software
Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks, CLIO, PC Law, Family Law Software to calculate financial affidavits, child support, and alimony calculation
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
