HERS Advisors have partnered with a boutique litigation law firm who have a need for a Litigation Secretary to work in their Downtown, Los Angeles, California office (hybrid).
Responsibilities for Litigation Secretary:
- Drafts and formats correspondence, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Filing of legal documents timely and accurately with state and federal courts (e-filing knowledge a must).
- Maintain attorney calendars through Outlook and Milana (the firm's court docketing software (i.e. scheduling appointments, calendaring due dates, etc.).
- Prepare and process engagement letters and new file opening memos.
- Maintains and follows up on attorney client deadlines and calendars appointments through the electronic calendaring and docketing systems.
- Complete expense reimbursements in a timely manner.
- Reviewing and ensuring accuracy of vendor invoices; prepare accurate check requests and timely submit invoices for payment to client or accounting.
Requirements for Litigation Secretary:
- Minimum of a high school diploma required.
- 5+ years experience as a litigation secretary handling commercial litigation is required.
- Some bankruptcy experience is required.
- Strong computer proficiency using Pacer, ECF, iManage or document management system, Aderant, Litera, MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, and legal processes in the Litigation Department, including the ability to mark and generate a table of contents and table of authorities.
