    JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

    The Deck Assistant position at Little Kickers Swim School will mainly work with the coaches in the water to ensure all lessons are going well, children are progressing and parents are updated regularly with their child’s progress and what the next steps are. They will occasionally work with the front desk in making sure all items are tended to. They will also be excellent examples of leadership, a team player, and always willing to lend a helping hand. A Deck Assistant will help new families get fully acquainted with the program and be a resource to families and answer questions they may have. At times, the Deck Assistant may be asked to perform other duties including coaching in the absence of another coach, minor administrative duties, facility maintenance, etc.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Make sure kids get to the appropriate instructor

    Assist & educate new families on the flow of the half-hour and what to expect

    Alert and remind instructors of new families

    Assist any coach who is having a challenge with their class and talk to parents during the lesson

    Ensure the pool deck is safe and there are clear paths to the exits, showers, etc.

    Be a resource to your coaches

    Stay positive and exemplify our core values

    Make sure all coaches know their options when a kid does not show up

    Communicate with the office if any changes need to happen on the shift

    Update notes in Pike13 when a child levels up

    Notify parents of leveling up and hand out our level cards

    Teaching 4-5 coaching shifts per week

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Must work 20+ hours a week

    The schedule will include in-water instruction and deck assistant shifts

    Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.

    Knowledge of general safety rules and precautions related to a swimming pool environment.

    Must have a professional demeanor and appearance.

    Ability to work in and around swimming pools with exposure to chlorinated and chemically treated water.

    Ability to function and focus through moderate noise levels.

    Possessing certifications in the following within 6 months after accepting the position

    LG/First Aid/CPR Certification for the Professional Rescuer

    Certified Pool Operator License

    Gain one of the following certifications (get certified with at least additional certification each year):

    Special Needs (Swim Angelfish)

    Water Safety for Parents and Caregivers (Red Cross)

    Movement & Brain Development course (USSSA)

    Infant Toddler course (USSSA)
