    Farm Manager

    The Farm Manager is responsible for leading the employees at Conclusions in the performance of their job duties, such as animal husbandry and facilities upkeep. They will work directly with the CalfCare Research Team to effectively manage and complete third-party contracted research projects. They are to assist and assure that all processes required are being performed in a timely manner and in accordance with CalfCare Policies and Protocols.

    Position and responsibilities:

    · Lead the team by example – emphasis on reliability and work ethic; showing the team how.

    · Communicate with CalfCare leadership, professional staff, and farm staff to ensure protocol adherence, project success, and expectations are met

    · Follow CalfCare Biosecurity Policy, Animal Welfare Policy, as well as CalfCare safety policies and procedures.

    · Effectively schedule personnel to meet goals and deadlines efficiently

    · Perform Animal husbandry tasks including feeding calves, mixing milk replacer, assuring fresh water is available to all animals, caring for sick animals, administering medications/treatments as directed and reporting problems to the veterinarian and research leadership.

    · Keep detailed records. Data entry is required.

    · Manage farm facilities including but not limited to build and repair new and existing fences, hutches, and paneling; clean barns, equipment, feeding equipment such as milk mixer, bottles and bottle nipples; and add to or replaces bedding in hutches and pens.

    · Assist or perform sample collections as needed.

    · Has the ability to multitask and work variable hours.

    · Perform other duties as directed by the Farm Manager or any other industry worker such as a veterinarian and research leadership.

    Skills:

    · Leadership skills including the ability to motivate others, multitask, self-motivated and independent.

    · Animal husbandry/farm experience/nursing skills preferred

    · Skid loader operation preferred or willing to be trained on how to safely operate loader

    · Team player that works well with others, strong communication skills, and able to follow written protocols

    Other duties:

    · Assist in other departments as needed and not interfering with main responsibilities.
