The Load Planner determines the best matches of loads with drivers based on customer requirements and driver qualifications. Plans should maximize utilization of drivers and company assets while being mindful of cost, driver needs and service expectations. Load Planners will also effectively communicate freight needs and create capacity when freight imbalances occur.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with customer service and fleet management to determine market needs and maximize available freight and capacity.
- Management of assigned fleet and/or market, including but not limited to:
- Cost controls, keeping deadhead and out of route miles at a minimum.
- Routing drivers’ home for time off.
- Trailer management.
- Analyzing overbooked/under booked markets and create capacity based on market needs.
- Managing local drivers if applicable.
- Monitoring preplans for confirmations and execution.
- Maintain data integrity in all programs while managing daily responsibilities.
- Contribute to our safety culture by keeping a safety-first attitude.
- Responsible for assisting in repower support for identified needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills a must; verbal and written.
- Efficient understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced and demanding environment.
- Highly organized, comfortable with prioritizing, and making decisions with good discernment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or function in a team environment sharing responsibilities, roles and accountability.
- Must be a team player.
- Have a good understanding of geography and interstate system in the United States.
- Be able to calculate transit and understand time zones.
- Adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are a must.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or similar field required.
- 1 year of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
- Prior customer service experience desired
- Prior transportation experience preferred.

The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.
Pay Range: $45,007.59-$69,574.81
Pay Grade: 7
