Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Prudent Engineering is in need of a Load Rating Engineer who has experience with Bridge Rating Software and CSiBridge. This position will be based out of the company's East Syracuse office.

Job Summary:

The Load Rating Engineer will evaluate the structural capacity of bridges, culverts, and other transportation infrastructure to ensure safety and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Responsibilities include performing load rating analyses using engineering software, assessing structural integrity based on field inspections, and recommending necessary repairs or load restrictions. The role requires proficiency in structural analysis, knowledge of AASHTO and FHWA guidelines, and experience with load rating tools such as BrR (Bridge Rating) or similar software. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams are essential for success in this position.

What you'll be able to do:

• Perform comprehensive load rating analyses for various bridge types using BrR (Bridge Rating) and CSiBridge software.
• Develop and review load rating reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Work closely with design engineers and project managers to meet state and federal requirements.
• Offer technical expertise and support to bridge inspection teams for accurate structural assessments.
• Contribute to bridge rehabilitation and replacement strategies based on load rating findings.
• Stay informed on evolving industry standards, technologies, and best practices in bridge load rating methodologies.

The minimum qualifications we seek:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Valid New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, not required.
• Demonstrated experience in bridge load rating, with proficiency in BrR and CSiBridge software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Our preferred qualifications:

• Experience with advanced finite element analysis for structural evaluation.
• Familiarity with NYSDOT bridge design, load rating procedures, and standards.
• Strong knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory standards related to bridge load rating.
