    Position Summary

    The Loan Specialist II position ensures smooth operations within the firm's loan process. This role emphasizes comprehensive file reviews, client service, and process efficiency, with added underwriting and risk assessment responsibilities.

    Department: Operations

    Reports to: This position reports to the COO and is a key contributor to the overall

    the success of the operations team.

     

    Main Responsibilities

    • Conduct full file reviews, ensuring all required documentation (title, appraisal, insurance, and entity documents) are accurate and compliant, and provide necessary sign-offs.

    • Review and evaluate appraisals (real estate or movables), environmental reports, and borrower financials to assess creditworthiness and compliance with company standards.

    • Perform underwriting for various loan products, including reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and risk factors to provide recommendations on loan approval.

    • Execute new account system maintenance, including manual loan boarding when required.

    • Conduct detailed account research to resolve discrepancies or issues.

    • Process payments from payment reserve accounts accurately and efficiently.

    • Manage servicing for both sold and purchased participation loans, including

    payment processing and reconciliation.

    • Research and apply unapplied or non-posted items while ensuring accuracy

    in all transactions.

     

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Stay informed about underwriting guidelines and regulatory changes to enhance loan evaluation processes.

    • Provide training and support to junior staff regarding underwriting best practices.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the COO or operations leadership.

     

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred

    • PC knowledge, Word and Excel Spreadsheet experience required

    • 10 key, alpha, numeric, and visual comparison skills

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional demeanor while working with internal and external customers

    • Proficient in basic PC applications, including Microsoft Office suite
