The Logistics Planner/Dispatcher will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing load volumes to ensure effective coverage and support the overall operations of a busy transportation department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Collaborate with the department manager to align transportation priorities with daily operations. ·
Implement continuous improvement practices to enhance safety, efficiency, and customer service. ·
Maintain a detailed schedule of upcoming projects, shipments, and volume projections. ·
Secure vendor capacity well in advance based on the detailed schedule. ·
Pre-plan routes using dispatch software as orders are entered. ·
Coordinate shipping requirements across multiple product lines with multiple vendors ·
Support the department manager in expanding the vendor network through proactive recruiting. ·
Work with sales and management teams to adjust daily routers according to customer needs. ·
Monitor route conditions and make necessary adjustments to ensure timely deliveries. ·
Serve as a communication liaison, handling incoming calls from drivers, customers and sales staff. ·
Input orders and load information into ERP and other relevant systems. ·
Assist sales staff in ensuring adequate inventory levels are kept at all locations. ·
Assist sales staff in delivering exceptional customer service through accurate and timely deliveries. ·
Aid the Logistics Manager in preparing quotes for materials, shipments, and projects. ·
Uphold outstanding customer service for internal and external stakeholders, including drivers, and vendors. ·
Adhere to all safety guidelines set forth by Kurtz Bros., Inc. and promptly complete incident reports when necessary. ·
Support the Logistics Manager in addressing and resolving customer issues. ·
Oversee daily dispatch operations, ensuring timely and accurate execution of transportation plans. ·
Maintain driver and vendor relationships to ensure reliable service during peak times. ·
Facilitate communication across departments regarding transportation needs. ·
Assist Logistics Manager in monitoring transportation costs and identify opportunities for improvements. ·
Perform other duties as assigned. ·
Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance, as this position is critical to operations.

Education and/or Experience ·
High school diploma or equivalent (Required) ·
2- or 4-year degree (Preferred) ·
Minimum two years in logistics or customer service-related work
Knowledge/Skills ·
Experience with NetSuite and/or Descartes OnDemand preferred. ·
Flexible to work various hours during busy season, including weekends (Spring through early summer) ·
Effective communication and active listening skills. ·
Friendly and positive demeanor with a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service. ·
Demonstrated initiative in taking on responsibilities. ·
Attention to detail, accuracy, and thorough follow-through. ·
Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. ·
Capacity to quickly develop a working knowledge of Kurtz Bros., Inc. products and systems. ·
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, PowerPoint, Etc.) ·
Willingness to learn and grow within the role. ·
Familiarity with local roadways and interstates in Northeast Ohio. ·
