1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. One year of hospital or clinic experience in registration area
3. Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
4. Basic computer/PC skills
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

JOB RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL)
Frequent contact with patients, third party payers, departments and other customers of the organization to disseminate and receive information. Adjusts patient interaction to match each patient’s age-specific developmental, educational, or other related needs.
JOB DUTIES ( denotes “essential function”)*
1. Demonstrates the WMH Customer Service Values, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers. *
2. * Reviews patient financial information in a timely, accurate, efficient manner prior to admission where possible and within one working day for unscheduled admissions. Identifies and verifies liable third party.
3. *Collects the patient liability making arrangement for payment according to policy.
4. *Contacts third party carriers to determine pre-certification or payment requirements and follows through with compliance.
5. *Coordinates follow-up MANG pending and out-of-state Medicaid patients with vendors.
6. *Responds to walk-in customers concerning outstanding billing and collection issues.
7. *Performs cashier duties.
8. *Disburses valuables from storage.
