JOB SUMMARY
Coordinates the daily operations and activities of the assigned department. Provides direction to the staff in the implementation of nursing care. Responsible for ongoing development of staff and upholds and maintains clinical standards of care.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- BS preferred or two years experience as an RN
- Registered Nurse with current Illinois license
- Two years experience as a Medical/Surgical RN
- At least one years experience as a shift Charge Nurse
- Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service delivery skills
- Knowledge of JCAHO and IDPH regulation.
- Geriatric certification preferred; Certification within 1 year required.
- CPR certification required. CPR Instructor a plus
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and solve problems.
- Average computer skills necessary to access patient databases, e-mail systems, etc
- Ability to use audio/visual equipment, telephone and other clinical equipment for patient teaching.
JOB DUTIES
- Demonstrates the WMH Customer Service Values, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers. *
- Oversees and evaluates quality of patient care provided as well as the skill level and pride values of the staff. Identifies competencies requiring review, updating, and annual testing. Provides staff feedback on their performance.
- Coordinates the activities of unit personnel, materials and equipment to achieve unit objectives for cost-effectiveness.
- *Plans for staffing by developing and adjusting staffing patterns based on unit guidelines. Assures staff assignments are consistent with patient care requirements.
- *Assesses, plans, directs, and evaluates educational and clinical professional development programs for nursing unit. Provides opportunities for staff development and education through conferences and small group instruction.
- Evaluates quality of patient care. Problem solves to improve patient care. Ensures patient/physician satisfaction. Establishes and implements clinical standards, operational objectives, and unit objectives.
- *Interprets and directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of unit goals, objectives, policies and standards of care, performance improvement and risk management programs.
- Assists in preparing, monitoring and maintaining annual operating and capital budgets consistent with the organization’s financial goals, reimbursement trends and current and/or projected standards of care.
- Serves as a role model in clinical excellence for the unit staff through provision of quality patient care as necessary. Provides direct age appropriate patient care in area of expertise when needed and facilitates unit in-services and team conferences.
- Participates in professional organizations or peer networks. Serves as a contributing member on assigned committees, programs, and task forces.
